Question 1: How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
This is it guys! We're finally done! Im so happy with how my brief turned out and I had so much fun with the process, honestly I felt myself having more and more fun as I created blog posts and this brief and I'm pretty sure thats reflected in my blogs from the beginning to now! Thanks for following me on this journey! (yayyy!) It's really difficult to upload side by side images so I hope its not an issue!

Hey guys!
I was finally able to successfully finish my feature article (yayyyy) meaning that I'm basically done with my brief! I was able to move the picture of my mom in the middle and I added some cute stars behind her to give it more details! I also added a page number to continue the theme I had with the table of contents. Despite the emotional turmoil I went through with making this page I'm honestly pretty proud of how it turned out!
So... we have a problem
After I did the interview I assumed that my mom said enough words since it seemed long... but once I actually put it on the page I realized it wasn't nearly enough and I was completely out of ideas. So I decided to make everything bigger to fill up space..
And honestly it worked! I just had to add the picture... which means I would have to
Use Text wrap.
Text wrap is honestly my one kryptonite as I have no idea how to make it go around the figure of a picture. I took the picture of my mom and cut out the background and tried to do text wrap on it for around 25 minutes. I wont lie, I was super frustrated by the entire process BUT! I was finally able to win and get it to work!!
Now all I have to do is add more details so it looks less boring and move the picture into the middle! I think my feature article may turn out well!

Hey guys! For my feature article I knew I wanted to interview my mom, I was just unsure of what questions to ask her so I laid them out so they would be easy to answer and made fit the theme I wanted to create.
The questions I listed were such:
1. So what is your name and how long have you been a mom?
So what is your name and how long have you been a mom?
My full name is Jasmine Brianna Jackson. I've been a mother for 18 years.
How is the experience of being a mom? Is it difficult?
I wouldn't say it's difficult, but it is challenging. Just because every day is different, each day having to raise children and your schedule is constantly evolving, and also it has to be balanced around work as well.
Do you have any advice for first time parents who might be struggling to get by?
As a first time parent, I would say, as long as you have a village or someone who is in your corner, whether it be family and or friends, then I wouldn't call it as much of a struggle. Just make sure that you seek out as much help as you can, possibly, because as a 1st time parent, it is just a lot going on.
How are your children? Do you have to adapt different teaching styles when raising both of them?
Yes, my children have a 13 year age gap. If I'm not mistaken, so yes, we have different teaching styles. I have an 18 year old and then I have a 4 year old. So there is a 13 year age gap. I'm starting all the way over, almost as if I'm a new mom and also still raising an adult in the process of different teaching styles, completely different upbringings between the 2 of them, almost seems as if they each were an only child within the home.
How was it like starting over after 13 years? Is it difficult?
No, I wouldn't say it's difficult at all. Actually, an expert at this point. So it's not difficult but it's also not as easygoing with my second born, since he's very rowdy.
How is it like being a single mother? Is it hard? For the other single mothers out there? Do you have any advice for them?
Single mom? No, I was raised by a single mom after my mom was divorced from my father, I spent many years living just with her, and my siblings. So single mom, no. I learned how to become a single mom for my mom being a single mom, and it just, you know, adds to your strength and capabilities, and that's what I was saying, just adapt. My advice for other single moms would be the same, like, find... Find a person and or people that you can keep in your corner to build a village that would help you... Basically, yes, adapt to that single mom lifestyle because as long as you have a village, I feel like anything is possible. And at the end of the day, it's always mama's baby, daddy's maybe. So, I mean, you make a child, you raise that child, you love that child, and you know, that's how life would be.
I was finally able to make my table of contents! I had some troubles with listing the words as they kinda became skewed and didn't fit but I was able to make them fit! I asked for some tips and I was told to move the words out of the gutter which is what I didn't realize before but afterwords it looked really good!
I also really liked the message from the editors as it gives my magazine more of like a viability and authenticity. I then added more like toy accents like a bouncy ball and kite to make my content page more childlike and added the finish touch of a picture of my brother to tie everything in.
I decided it would be nice to add a page number on the bottom left since most magazines have page numbers incorporated in them (I also just thought it was really cute lol!).
I honestly really like how this page turned out, for now Im a little scared for my feature article! but otherwise my content page might just be my favorite page!

For my table of contents I was unsure of how to design it, whether it be a one page or two pager or if it included specific accents. So I went to the internet to view inspiration! One thing I was sure I wanted was a rectangular border on the side of my table of contents.

Hey guys! I was finally able to make my cover page for my magazine. I went through all the photos I took of my brother and decided that the one of him sitting in the chair was best. After I placed it down I was confused on what I should put in my bylines but I realized I should include articles that I had stated in my table of contents plan. I had a lot of fun designing it and thought the stars were a good add on as they fit the sky/kidcore theme I was going for. The bold colors also fit the colors of the rainbow I had in the background.

Hey guys! This is gonna be a short one
I'm finally starting to create my cover page, as I stated in my planning I wanted to have a childlike aesthetic for my article, and Im pretty sure I found a top tier background for it. I was unsure of how I would be able to incorporate a rainbow into the cover but I found a pretty good image. I think placed my title on it and I believe everything is finally coming together. Im starting to have so much fun creating this magazine!

Hey everyone! Since creating my blog and deciding to do a parenting magazine I always knew I was going to use my brother as a model, and since I have experience with photography I thought the process would be easy..
Rookie mistake.
I had forgotten how difficult it would be to try to pose a 4 year old, I have no idea how the teachers get his to sit still during picture day but obviously what I was doing wasn't working.
At first I realized there was an odd glare on my photos so I switched the settings, I had to bribe him with candy in the end so he could sit still so I eventually got some decent enough photos.
I think his silliness really brought out the childlike innocence and aesthetic that I wanted to be prominent in my brief, so I decided to go through these photos and choose the best ones to include in my brief. Which are the 3rd and 4th ones listed above. I then realized I needed a picture for my feature article so I took my mother outside and took a photo of my mom, she's pretty photogenic so it was a one and done!
Im really excited to include these photos in my magazine!
